Quite often a work that has been created, designed and defined by the imagination of an artist is then given shape by other expert hands. This way a unique bond is formed between artist and artisan, between the person behind an idea or a project and who gives it life in the various plastic, chromatic and spatial forms.
There is no doubt that to create a work of act variuos and complementary needs and elements are involved. In a society where specialisation is considered an absolute need and where the various fields are integrated into each other, artistic expression cannot escape from this productive drive. However, luckily there are exceptions to this rule which find in the same person the design creativity and construction capacity this is the case with Albano Poli, expert glass worker whose workshop produces works that he has created, designed and produced following traditions that have their roots back in time.
In him the artist and the artisan form an admirable synthesis. When you enter his workshop you can follow the journay from the first sketches for a piece of glass, through the colour decisions, the choice of materials, to the careful production with the precious cooperation of the other colleagues who have grown in the same space and with the same awareness. His shop/workshop can justly be called a solar exemple of synthesis between creative genius and manual capacity, between fidelity to the most ancient glass making traditions and the opening to the newest expressions, where the chromatic combinations, the allusions, play a more important role that the shape itself, all combined in a precise moment of understanding. The most advanced techniques used in glass making take nothing away from the visible sign of an authentic artisan workshop where an artist is at work, thinking, creating and producing.
