Progetto Arte Poli realize italian stained glass, italian mosaics, italian fresco paintings, italian wrought iron, italian restoration at Verona (Italy)
Description: the work of conservative restoration of windows is made according to a work schedule which includes the following phases:
a- Historical analysis
b- Historical execution techniques
c- Analysis of the structure/statics
d- Analysis of the conservation status
e- Analysis of the painting
f- Work
The historical analysis and the study of the execution techniques of the window to be restored aims at identifying exactly the typology and the methods used to realize the window in order to perform a proper work.
The analysis of the structure/statics aims at identifying the way in which work shall be performed, if the windows can be removed from the metal structures or walls where they are inserted, that is made to avoid windows tensions and dangerous vibrations.
When the window is in the workshop, each glass is marked and its conservative status is analysed.
A scalpel is used to analyse the dirty layers and the panels to perform a proper job.
Very often the sulphurous anhydride penetrates deeply and corrodes the glass itself.
Often the ancient windows have missing parts as well.
The ancient painting which can differ according to the century, can be made from typical grisaille and also from copper oxides and silver nitrates. Old paintings can have scaling and cracks which will be rebuilt.
The real work is made from different phases to save and restore windows and also to re-build lead work and reinforce welding.
When the glass is cleaned by a proper solution of demonized water and proper pads, the encrustations are taken away with a scalpel and glass fibre brushes, so that the deteriorated parts of painting are re-stabilized
A normal conservative restoration is usually applied to the relevant metal structures, as well.
